About Me
Hello, I’m Angie Curwen, a qualified integrative counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
A little bit about me…
I am an integrative counsellor working from a person-centred perspective. This means I believe you are the expert in your own life, and our work together will be built around your experiences, your needs, and your goals.
My role is to support you in finding your own way forward, at your own pace. Wherever you are in your life right now, and whatever challenges you are facing, I will work alongside you to help you move towards greater understanding, emotional balance, and a stronger sense of self.
I aim to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and explore what is going on for you.
How I got started on this path
Areas I Work With
I have experience supporting clients with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including:
Anxiety
Depression
Childhood and adult trauma
Low self-esteem and confidence
Personality disorders
Neurodiversity including ADHD and autism
Struggles with self-belief and identity
Emotional overwhelm and life difficulties
If you are finding things difficult right now and are unsure how to move forward, counselling can provide a space to begin making sense of what you are experiencing.
How I Work
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from different therapeutic models to best support your individual needs. However, at the heart of my work is a person-centred philosophy.
This means I will always work with empathy, acceptance, and respect for your unique experience, supporting you to develop your own understanding and direction rather than telling you what to do.
Free Initial Session
I offer a free initial session so that we can both decide whether we feel comfortable working together. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, talk about what has brought you to counselling, and get a sense of how I work.
I will also be honest with you if I feel that another form of support may be more appropriate.
Availability & Sessions
I currently offer:
In-person counselling sessions at Discovery Park, Sandwich (available Mondays and Fridays)
Online counselling sessions
Telephone counselling sessions
Sessions take place weekly at a regular time, although this can be flexible depending on your needs.
Fees & Session Structure
Each counselling session is £50.
We will work together to agree the most appropriate length of therapy for you. Many clients choose an initial plan of six or twelve sessions, however this is flexible and may be shorter or longer depending on your individual needs.
